7:15 PM - 8:30 PMFeaturing survivor Arnie Newfield. Arnold Newfield was born in Westerbork transit camp in Holland. Arnie’s family left Vienna years prior after Kristallnacht upended their lives. Arnie’s father was sent to Buchenwald from Westerbork, never speaking with Arnie about his experiences there. In March of 1944, Arnie, along with his two brothers and mother, was sent to Ravensbrück. Arnie’s parents made a pact that after the war they would reunite in Holland. In March of 1945, Arnie and his family were shipped to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp from which they were liberated in April 1945. Arnie’s brothers always carried trauma from their experiences during the Holocaust and were never able to move past it. Arnie dedicates part of his testimony to sharing with young people the dangers of harboring resentment.
