About Our School

Welcome to The Preschool at TBI!

The Preschool at TBI provides a nurturing, stimulating and safe environment for children ages two to five. Our preschool is licensed by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services and we participate in the Universal Pre-K Program, under the authorization of the Port Washington School District.

We offer small class sizes to maximize individual attention.  Our teachers are NY State Licensed, and we have a Special Educator on site.  We use Handwriting without Tears, and follow Port Washington’s UPK Curriculum.

We are also proud of our fully-fledged STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics) element in our curriculum.

Our preschoolers enjoy a wide range of activities, including our STEAM program and using our Outdoor Classroom!  They also love building with our Imagination Playground Big Blue Block set!

Fun and Learning with Cups! TBI Buds! Future Engineers! The Whole Megillah Fun at the Fall Festival STEAM with Miss Nissa Group Effort! Racing Fun Apple Voting! Enjoying Vegetables from our Outdoor Garden Learning is fun...and Messy!

Our Philosophy

The philosophy of our school is based on the premise that children thrive when they are treated with respect and given opportunities to grow emotionally, intellectually and socially through meaningful age-appropriate experiences.

Ours is a child-centered, experiential approach, which respects the importance of children’s play and the uniqueness of each child. We strive to create an environment rich in stimulation, yet gentle and accepting of each child as he or she develops at his or her own pace. We seek to be responsive to all individuals and families in our community.

Creativity, individualization, intellectual stimulation, incorporating appropriate readiness skills, group activity and interpersonal relations are elements of our program. We focus on the process and discovery, not the end product.

Jewish customs are integrated into our daily schedule and children learn to celebrate Jewish cultural traditions and gain an appreciation for Jewish heritage. Children of all religious, ethnic and racial backgrounds are welcome and we encourage children to know and respect their own heritage and to respect the cultures and traditions of others.

Our Parents Say:

Our TBI experience has created long lasting friendships for myself and my children.”

“The teachers provided my child with warmth and love, making our separation process easy.”

“I sent all four of my children through the program and highly recommend it!”

We offer a variety of programs to meet your family’s needs.
