At TBI, congregants have many opportunities to learn and enrich their lives.
Women in the Bible
According to tradition, on Friday nights we bless our daughters saying, “May God make you like Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah.” While the Matriarchs and other women in the bible had many wonderful qualities, looking at their stories in the Torah, we see that they all faced challenges and difficult times. Some of these stories are very problematic in the way the women are presented. In this class, we will use Dr. Tikva Frymer-Kensky’s book, Reading the Women of the Bible, to gain a greater understanding of the meaning of these stories. This class is open to and will be enjoyed by both men and women.

Each year we welcome an outstanding scholar from the Jewish Theological Seminary to TBI for a weekend of learning and illumination.
